Abia State has three Senatorial Districts and eight Federal Constituencies. Following the conclusion of the February 25 National Assembly elections, we highlight the winners of the legislative polls as declared by the election management body

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday, February 25 2023, conducted elections for the National Assembly Elections across the 109 Senatorial Districts and 360 Federal Constituencies represented in the House of Representatives.
The elections, which were keenly contested by the registered eighteen political parties in the country, saw the candidates of the various parties emerge winners in both elections. According to the results so far declared by INEC, the Labour Party (LP) was the biggest winner, picking up six House of Representatives seats and one Senatorial Seat. They are closely followed by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), which won one Senatorial seat and one House of Representatives seat.
Similarly, only three incumbents were re-elected. Below is a full list of winners of the Senatorial and House of Representatives seats in Abia State:

Abia Central: Darlington Nwokocha (LP)
Abia South: Eyinnaya Abaribe (APGA) – Re-elected
Abia North: Orji Uzor Kalu (APC) – Re-elected

- Aba South/North Federal Constituency: Emeka Nnamani (LP)
- Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency: Ibe Okwara-Osonwa (LP)
- Bende Federal Constituency: Benjamin Kalu (APC) – Re-elected
- Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency: Obi Aguocha (LP)
- Isialangwa North/South Federal Constituency: Ginger Onwusibe (LP)
- Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency: Amobi Ogah (LP)
- Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency: Munachim Alozie (LP)

Good result. Am happy that Abaribe the Mma-Agha Ndi Igbo won his election. Though even if he did not campaign, Ikpeazu is not a match.
Am also very happy that Nkeiru lost. So happy that Labour Party took over the stage😁🤓

It’s interesting to see the breakdown of winners in the recent National Assembly elections in Abia State. It’s great to see a diversity in political parties represented in the results. I’m curious to know more about the specific platforms and policies of the winning candidates, especially those from the Labour Party. What issues were they campaigning for and how do they plan to address them in their positions?
