Supreme Court nullifies Senator Bwacha’s guber candidacy

The Supreme Court on Wednesday nullified the gubernatorial primaries that produced Senator Emmanuel Bwacha as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State.

The apex court, in its ruling, faulted the primaries conducted by the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as invalid and inconsistent with the provisions of the electoral act and further affirmed the judgement of the Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo, which had earlier nullified the purported exercise.

The judgement of the highest court in the land follows an ppeal lodged before the Court by an aggrieved aspirant, David Sabo Kente, who had challenged the decision of the court of appeal sitting in yola which earlier nullified the judgement of the Jalingo Federal high court.

With this development, it is expected that the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will empanel a fresh committee to conduct a new primary election exercise in Jalingo so as to enable the party to participate in the forthcoming polls.
