Plateau

 

Dachung Musa Bagos
In the period under review, the lawmaker representing Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency sponsored 33 bills, the highest by any federal lawmaker from Plateau State.

A member of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), he has since secured his party’s ticket to return to the green chamber ahead of the 2023 elections.

 

Simon Davou Mwadkwon
The Barikin Ladi/Riyom Representative in the House of Representatives has 23 pieces of legislation to his name. He is a member of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

 

Yusuf Adamu Gagdi
Representing Pankshin/Kanam/Kanke Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, the lawmaker has sponsored 21 bills since 2019.

A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, he currently chairs the House Committee on Navy. He has since secured the ticket of his party to return to the Green Chamber in the next dispensation.

Ahmed Idris Wase
Representing Wase Federal Constituency, the lawmaker has been at the National Assembly since 2007, when he got elected to the House under the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).

Between 2018 and 2019, he was Deputy House Leader of the House of Representatives, and in June 2019, he was elected as Deputy Speaker. He has since then sponsored 17 bills, including a bill seeking to establish the Federal Medical Centre, Wase, which has been passed by the House and transmitted to the Senate for concurrence.

 

 

Solomon Bulus Maren
The lawmaker representing Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency has 14 bills to his credit in the last three years. He is a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Caucus in the House of Representatives.

 

 

Beni Butmark Lar
A Representative of Langtang South/Langtang North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, she has sponsored nine bills in the period under review.

One of the ranking members of the House, she currently chairs the House Committee on Science and Technology.

 

 

Komsol Alphonsus Longgap
The lawmaker representing Quan-Pan/Mikang/Shendam Federal Constituency has three bills in his name since his election to parliament in 2019.

Musa Agah Aviah
Representing Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, the lawmaker has, so far, sponsored two bills. Rep. Aviah replaced the previous occupant of the seat, Haruna Maitala, who died in April 2021.

Agah, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), however, had a short stay in the Green Chamber as he was sacked by the Court of Appeal and replaced with Muhammad Adam Alkali of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP).

His election had in September 2022 being nullified by the National and States Assembly Election Petition Trial Tribunal on the grounds that the PDP did not validly nominate him for the February 26, 2022 Bye-Election and that he did not score the highest valid votes in the election.

He was sworn in at the House of Representatives in November 2022.

SENATORS SCORECARD

Plateau

Istifanus Dung Gyang
Representing Plateau North Senatorial District, Gyang is the only Senator from the ‘Home of Peace and Tourism’ elected under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The lawmaker has, so far, sponsored 18 pieces of legislation in the period under review, including a bill seeking to establish the University of Broadcasting and Film Studies, Jos, currently at the Committee stage.

 

Hezekiah Ayuba Dimka
The lawmaker representing Plateau Central Senatorial District is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has sponsored three bills in the period under review. Prominent among these bills is the legislation seeking to provide a legal framework for the Federal University of Technology, Kabwir-Plateau State, currently at first reading.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Drugs and Narcotics joins the long list of lawmakers who will not be returning to the National Assembly, having made an unsuccessful bid for the governorship ticket of his party at the primaries.

 

Nora Ladi Da’adut
One of the very few female lawmakers in the National Assembly from the North Central geo-political zone, she represents Plateau South Senatorial District.

Since her election to the Red Chamber in December 2020, the academic-turned-lawmaker has sponsored a single piece of legislation which is the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (Establishment) Bill.

She joins the list of federal legislators who will not be returning to the National Assembly in the next dispensation, as she shelved her Senatorial aspiration in favour of the incumbent Plateau Governor, who is making spirited efforts to resume at the legislature, having been a Speaker of the State Assembly before his election as number one citizen of the state.

    To be candit to ourselves Bagos remained the best member federal house of representatives from Plateau state, like it or not. He is a member we need in the Jos south Jos east federal constituency. We called him Bagos 2.0 inshaAllah.

    Am highly disappointed in my house of representatives member representing langtang north and south respectively at the green chamber in the person of hon. Beni butmak lar for poor wasted representation. She has fail cos we didn’t feel the positive impact of her legislative function.
