Performance Scorecard of the Ninth National Assembly reveals that the nine federal lawmakers from Yobe State sponsored a paltry total of seven bills in the last three years.
Notably, compared to his counterparts who are Presiding Officers in the current Assembly, the Senate President has zero bills to his credit

SENATORS SCORECARD
Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan
The lawmaker representing Yobe North Senatorial District sponsored zero bills in the period under review.
Senator Lawan, who is currently serving as President of the Senate, joins the league of lawmakers who will not be returning to the National Assembly in 2023. This followed his inability to secure a return ticket, having contested the Presidential primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in June 2022, hoping to emerge as the consensus choice of the party’s gladiators.
The former Senate Majority Leader has been at the National Assembly since 1999, when he came in as a House of Representatives Member.
Geidam Ibrahim Alhaji
Representing Yobe East Senatorial District, the two-time governor of the State sponsored two bills in the period under review, including a bill seeking to establish the National Cohesion and Integration Commission, which has passed first reading.
A former civil servant who rose to the position of Permanent Secretary before his foray into politics, he is currently serving out his first term in the legislative chamber.

Bomai Ibrahim Mohammed
A representative of Yobe South Senatorial District, the lawmaker has so far sponsored just one piece of legislation in the last three years. The legislation on Internal Audit Commission is currently at first reading.

Lawan Shettima Ali
The lawmaker representing Bursari /Geidam/ Yunusari Federal Constituency has two bills to his name in over the last three years (2019 – 2022)
Khadija Bukar Abba
The only female lawmaker from the North Eastern State, she sponsored just one bill in the period under review.
Representing Damaturu/Gujba/Gulani/Tarmuwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, she had previously been First Lady of the State, being the wife of Governor Bukar Abba Ibrahim.
She later served as a Minister of State for Foreign Affairs during the first term of the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

Zakari Yau Muhammad Galadima
Representing Bade/Jakusko Federal Constituency in the Green Chamber, Rep. Galadima has sponsored a single piece of legislation in the period under review.
Among the six federal lawmakers from Yobe State elected to the House of Representatives in 2019, three of the legislators did not sponsor a bill in the last three years (2019 – 2022) namely:
- Abubakar Yerima Idris representing Fika/Fune Federal Constituency
- Tijjani Umar Potiskum representing Nangere/Potiskum Federal Constituency
- Tijjani Zannah Zakariya representing Machina /Nguru/Karasuwa /Yusufari Federal Constituency

FUN FACT:
Yobe State is one of the few states with 100% of its lawmakers representing the various federal constituencies and senatorial districts from one party.
