OrderPaperToday – The continued non-release of about N50billion bailout funds to Kogi State has attracted the attention of governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The governors have accused the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) of partisanship for holding on to Kogi funds whilst it released those meant for states under the control of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PDP Governors Forum in a statement signed by its coordinator, Mr. Osaro Onaiwu, warned of dire consequences for the economy in a situation where the apex bank panders to the dictates of APC.
The governors queried why Kogi being a PDP state has been singled out even when workers are crying of unpaid salaries and the fortunes of the people there are getting worse by the day.
According to them, “How come almost all APC states that applied for bailout have gotten theirs but states like Kogi that have fulfilled all the requirements have been denied theirs with no explanation from the CBN?
“The CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has to insulate the apex bank from the shenanigans of politicians to avoid serious political and economic dislocation in the country.
“It is important and urgent that the CBN releases the N50billion bailout due to Kogi to ease the suffering of the common people in the state.”
