HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES SCORECARD
Suleiman Abubakar Gumi
With eleven bills in the bag, the lawmaker ranks highest in the bills chart of federal legislators from the State. He represents the Gummi/Bukuyum Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Kabiru Ahmadu
Representing Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency, the lawmaker has so far sponsored five bills.
Shehu Ahmed
The lawmaker representing Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency has sponsored two bills in the period under review.

Lawmakers from the state in the current House of Representatives who did not sponsor any piece of legislation in the period under review include:
- Bello Hassan Shinkafi representing Shinkafi/Zurmi Rative Federal Constituency
- Sani Dan-Galadima representing Kaura Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency
- Ahmad Muhammad Bakura representing Maradun/Bakura Federal Constituency
- Kabiru Yahaya representing Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency

SENATORS SCORECARD
Sahabi Ya’u
The Senator representing Zamfara North in the National Assembly has sponsored six bills in the period under review. Prominent among these bills is the legislation that seeks to establish a Federal University in Gusau, the state capital, which is currently at the Committee stage.
Senator Sahabi also sponsored the Federal University Gusau, Teaching Hospital (Establishment) Bill 2021, which was passed by the Senate in 2022.
The lawmaker chairs the Senate Committee on National Population and National Identity and was Deputy Senate Minority Whip until June 2021, when he defected from the Peoples’ Democratic Party ((PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Lawali Hassan Anka
The lawmaker representing Zamfara Central Senatorial District has, since 2019, sponsored zero bills in the period under review.
He was elected to the Red Chamber in 2019 on the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party ((PDP) until he defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in June 2021.
Hassan Muhammadu Gusau (Nasiha)
Senator Hassan Gusau was the lawmaker representing Zamfara Central Senatorial District until he was appointed Deputy Governor of the state in February 2022.
However, he left the Senate with four bills to his name throughout his time in the Red Chamber including a piece of legislation seeking to establish a National Renewable Energy Efficiency Council, which has passed first reading. He also sponsored the Nursing and Midwifery (Registration, etc.) Act CAP N143 LFN 2004 (Amendment) Bill 2020 passed by the Senate on the 30th of November 2021.
‘Nasiha,’ who had first served as Senator for the zone between 2007 and 2011, was defeated by Kabiru Marafa of the (now defunct) All Nigeria Peoples’ Party (ANPP) in 2011. He served as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ecology and Climate Change until he was sworn in as the number two citizen of Zamfara State after the impeachment of Mahadi Ali Gusau.

It is indeed an abysmal performance on the part of those who did not sponsor a bill. What a wasted vote! It will not be a surprise that they may not still do a project in their constituencies.
