Nigeria’s ‘Sunshine State’ has twelve lawmakers in the federal parliament all elected in 2019; but how well did they perform in the Third-Year Appraisal of the Ninth National Assembly? In this piece, we highlight the performance of the federal legislators from Ondo State since 2019

 

 

Ondo

 

Patrick Akinyelure
The lawmaker representing Ondo Central Senatorial District boasts of 13 bills sponsored in the period under review, including a bill seeking to prohibit discrimination among persons who hold Degrees and Higher National Diplomas, which the Senate has passed.

 

Nicholas Tofowomo
A member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he represents Ondo South Senatorial District.

Amongst eleven bills sponsored by the lawmaker in the period under review is the Federal College of Basic Studies Ile-Oluji, Ondo State (Establishment) Bill, which has already passed first reading.

 

Robert Ajayi Borrofice
The 73-year-old Professor and lawmaker represents Ondo North Senatorial District and has five bills to his mane, including the National Agency for Technology Incubation (Establishment) Bill, which has already passed first reading.

Elected to the Senate since 2011, he is the lone Senator from the State in the majority All Progressives Congress (APC) Caucus, where he occupies the role of Deputy Leader of the Senate.

Ondo

Adejoro Adeogun
The lawmaker representing Akoko South-East/Akoko South-West Federal Constituency has so far sponsored six bills in the period under review.


Akinfolarin Mayowa Samuel
Representing Ile-Oluji/Oke Igbo/Odigbo Federal Constituency, the lawmaker has also sponsored six bills since 2019.

Olubunmi Tunji Ojo
The lawmaker representing Akoko North-East/Akoko North-West has five bills to his name over the last three years.

Akinjo Victor Kolade
The Ese-Odo/Ilaje Federal Constituency Representative has, since his election to the House in 2019, sponsored four bills.

Tajudeen Adeyemi Adefisoye
Elected to the Green Chamber in 2019 under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the lawmaker representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency has, so far, sponsored three bills. He, however, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on 10th December 2020.

Peter Abiola Makinde
Like Rep, Adefisoye, the Ondo East/Ondo West Representative has also sponsored three bills in the period under review.

 

Adelegbe Oluwatimehin E.
The lawmaker representing Owo/Ese Federal Constituency has two bills to his name since 2019.

Kengbolu Gboluga Dele
From the inauguration of the Ninth House of Representatives, the Irele/Okitipupa Representative is the only lawmaker from the State in the Green Chamber that has just one bill to his credit in the period under review.

 

Omolafe Isaac Adebayo
The Akure North/Akure South Representative sponsored no bill until his death on August 16 2021. Following his death, a bye-election was conducted by the country’s election management body in February 2022, which produced Mayorkun Lawson Alade of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

 

Mayorkun Lawson Alade
A newbie in the federal parliament, the Akure lawmaker is yet to sponsor any piece of legislation since his election to the parliament early 2022.
