One week after the Senate failed to pass the 2023 Appropriation Bill, Senators resume from Christmas holidays to consider report on Budget at Wednesday’s plenary

The Senate has began consideration of the report on the N20.5 trillion 2023 budget by its Committee on Appropriation.

OrderPaper Nigeria had reported that the Senate last week adjourned plenary to Wednesday, 28th December 2022, for consideration and passage of the 2023 Appropriation Bill in order to meet the deadline set by the Red Chamber.

President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, had noted that the budget would be harmonised with the House of Representatives before passage on Thursday.

The passage of the 2023 budget before the close of the year is to ensure that the budget cycle commences on the first of January as with previous years since the beginning of the 9th Senate. Lawan maintained that the budget would be passed alongside the Finance Bill 2022.
