Meet 13 members of the 10th National Assembly from Akwa Ibom State 

Akwa Ibom has three senators representing the three senatorial districts.

They are:

Senator Bassey Aniekun Etim

The 46-year-old lawmaker is a first term senator representing Akwa Ibom North East senatorial district in the 10th Assembly under the PDP. He is the Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Agriculture Production Services and Rural Development.

His legislative career commenced in 2014 when he was elected as a member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, serving the Uruan Constituency from 2015 to 2023. During his tenure, he held various leadership roles, including Deputy Speaker in 2017 and later served as the 12th Speaker from 2019.  Click on this link for more information on Sen. Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio

The 62-year-old lawmaker is a second-term senator representing Akwa Ibom North West senatorial district in the 10th Assembly under the All Progressives Congress (APC). He is presently the Senate President of the 10th National Assembly. Akpabio began his legislative journey in 2015 when he was first elected into the National Assembly as Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District and served as Senate Minority Leader and the South-South caucus of the PDP in 2015. He resigned in 2018 after he had announced his defection to the APC.

In July 2019, he was nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari as Minister for Niger Delta Affairs

Senator Akpan Ekong Sampson

The 57-year-old lawmaker is a second-term senator representing Akwa Ibom South senatorial district in the 10th Assembly under the PDP.

The lawmaker began his legislative journey as Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Council, a member of the State House of Assembly and a member of the House of Representatives. There are ten members of the House of Representatives from Akwa Ibom State. Interestingly, none of them is female. The Akwa Ibom contingent comprises members from PDP (7), APC (2) and the Young Progressive Party (YPP) (1). See the lineup below:

Rep. Clement Jimbo

The 41-year-old lawmaker is a first-term Member, representing Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency in the 10th Assembly under the APC.

Rep. Etteh Okpolump Ikpong

Rep. Ikpong, the 54-year-old lawmaker is a first-term Member, representing the Eket/onna/Esit Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency in the 10th Assembly under the PDP.

The lawmaker began his legislative journey in 2006 as a Member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and served for three terms.

He chaired various Committees in the Third Assembly, and became Chief Whip in the Fourth Assembly between 2007 and 2011, after which he was made the House Leader of the State Assembly. Rep. Asuquo Paul Ekpo

The 55-year-old lawmaker is a first-term Member, representing Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency in the 10th Assembly under the PDP.
