Akwa Ibom State, in the south-south Nigeria, has a total of thirteen members in the National Assembly, comprising of three senators and ten representatives in the House 

Meet 13 members of the 10th National Assembly from Akwa Ibom State 

Akwa Ibom State is a state in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria, bordered on the east by Cross River State, on the west by Rivers State and Abia State, and on the south by the Atlantic Ocean. The state takes its name from the Qua Iboe River which bisects the state before flowing into the Bight of Bonny. Akwa Ibom was split from Cross River State in 1987 with her capital Uyo and 31 local government areas.

It is currently governed by Pastor Umo Eno of the Peoples Democratic Party. (PDP), who emerged as governor in 2023.

Senator Bassey Aniekun Etim

The 46-year-old lawmaker is a first term senator representing Akwa Ibom North East senatorial district in the 10th Assembly under the PDP. He is the Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Agriculture Production Services and Rural Development.

His legislative career commenced in 2014 when he was elected as a member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, serving the Uruan Constituency from 2015 to 2023. During his tenure, he held various leadership roles, including Deputy Speaker in 2017 and later served as the 12th Speaker from 2019.  Click on this link for more information on Sen. Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio

The 62-year-old lawmaker is a second-term senator representing Akwa Ibom North West senatorial district in the 10th Assembly under the All Progressives Congress (APC). He is presently the Senate President of the 10th National Assembly. Akpabio began his legislative journey in 2015 when he was first elected into the National Assembly as Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District and served as Senate Minority Leader and the South-South caucus of the PDP in 2015. He resigned in 2018 after he had announced his defection to the APC.

In July 2019, he was nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari as Minister for Niger Delta Affairs

Senator Akpan Ekong Sampson

The 57-year-old lawmaker is a second-term senator representing Akwa Ibom South senatorial district in the 10th Assembly under the PDP.

The 41-year-old lawmaker is a first-term Member, representing Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency in the 10th Assembly under the APC.

Rep. Ikpong, the 54-year-old lawmaker is a first-term Member, representing the Eket/onna/Esit Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency in the 10th Assembly under the PDP.

The lawmaker began his legislative journey in 2006 as a Member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and served for three terms.

He chaired various Committees in the Third Assembly, and became Chief Whip in the Fourth Assembly between 2007 and 2011, after which he was made the House Leader of the State Assembly.     Please governor Umo Eno was elected in 2023 and not 2022.
