The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), known as the “Center of Unity,” has Abuja serving as both the capital of the FCT and Nigeria. Located in the north-central region of Nigeria, it is the first city meticulously planned in the 1980s by International Planning Associates (IPA). Noteworthy features include the Three Arms Zone, housing the Presidential Complex, the National Assembly, and the Supreme Court.

Other landmarks include the Millennium Tower, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) headquarters, the National Stadium, the National Mosque, the National Church, Aso Rock and Zuma Rock.

The FCT is divided into six area councils, with two federal constituencies and one senatorial district. Unlike other states governed by governors, the FCT is overseen by the Minister of the FCT, with the current minister being former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, the 8th to hold the position since 1999.

Meet the senator representing Abuja – The FCT has only one senator representing its sole senatorial district.
