A Performance Scorecard of Senators and members of the House of Representatives from Anambra State. Fourteen of these federal lawmakers were elected by the Anambra Electorate in 2019 to the Ninth National Assembly, and here’s their performance in the area of bill sponsorship over the last three years (2019 -2022).

SENATORS SCORECARD

Anambra
Stella Adaeze Oduah
Representing Anambra North Senatorial District in the National Assembly since her election in 2015, Senator Oduah has thirty-nine bills to her credit in the period of review.

Two of the bills are the Renewable Energy Bill 2021 and a bill seeking the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre in Onitsha. She currently doubles as Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation.

Elected on the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019, she defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in August 2021, which she eventually ditched for her former party after eight months.

 

 

Uche Lilian Ekwunife
The lawmaker representing Anambra Central Senatorial District has twenty-six bills to her name in the last three years.

A former member of the House of Representatives, she was moved to the Senate in 2015, where she chairs the Senate Committee on Science and Technology. She has contested for the governorship of the state twice, with the most recent being in 2021 under the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) but was unsuccessful.

Ifeanyi Patrick Ubah
A representative of Anambra South Senatorial District at the Red Chamber, Senator Ubah is one of the two Senators in the Young Progressives Party (YPP) Senate Caucus and has sponsored twenty bills in the last three years.

In 2014, he contested the Anambra gubernatorial election under the platform of the Labour Party but lost.

 

 

 

 

 

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES SCORECARD

Obinna Chidoka
A representative of  Idemili North/Idemlli South Federal Constituency at the Green Chamber, Rep. Chidoka, has twenty-three bills standing in his name. One prominent bill sponsored by the lawmaker is the Code of Conduct and Tribunal Act (Amendment) Bill 2020, which has been passed by the House.

 

Lynda Chuba Ikpeazu
Rep. Ikpeazu is one of the most experienced lawmakers in the current House of Representatives, having first been elected to the legislative chamber in 1999.

Representing Onitsha North/Onitsha South Federal Constituency, Ikpeazu has had eighteen (18) Bills to her credit since 2019.

She is a member of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), and she chairs the House Committee on Maritime Safety and Education.

 

 

Onwuaso Chinedu
The lawmaker representing Awka North/Awka South Federal Constituency has sponsored twelve bills in the last three years, including the National Youth Service Corps Act (Amendment) Bill, 2019.

He is a member of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

 

 

Onyema Chukwuka Wilfred
A member of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency, the legislator has had eight bills to his credit since 2019.

 


Dozie F Nwankwo
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) lawmaker representing Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia sponsored seven bills in the period under review.

 

 


Ifeanyi Chudy Momah
A representative of Ihiala Federal Constituency at the Green Chamber, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker also sponsored seven bills over the last three years.

 

 

 

Umeoji Chukwuma Michael
Elected under the platform of APGA, the lawmaker representing Aguata Federal Constituency in the period under review has six bills to his name.

Bills sponsored by the lawmaker in the period under review include the Senior Citizens Protection Bill, 2019, which has been passed by the Green Chamber.

 

 

 

Ezenwankwo Okwudili
The APGA lawmaker representing Orumba North/Orumba South Federal Constituency has so far, sponsored four bills in the Ninth Assembly

 

 

Chris Emeka Azubogu
Representing
Nnewi North/ Nnewi South/Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, the federal legislator has had three bills to his name since his election to the current Ninth House of Representatives in 2019.

 

Ofumelu Vincent Ekene
The lawmaker representing Oyi/Ayamelum Federal Constituency in the Green Chamber has sponsored two bills in the last three years (2019 – 2022).

 

 

Chinedu Benjamin Obidigwe
Representing Anambra East/Anambra West, Rep. Obidigwe is the only lawmaker from the State with just one piece of legislation to his name in the period under review.

FUN FACT:
Representatives and Senators from Anambra State are one of the few in the Ninth National Assembly with at least one bill to their credit since 2019.
