Three-term Senator, Phillip Aduda attributes Labour Party’s Ireti Kingibe’s success to the popularity of her party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Following weeks of silence on the results of the February 25 Senatorial election held in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the incumbent lawmaker representing the district, Philip Aduda, has reacted.
The Senate Minority Leader while addressing journalists in the National Assembly on Thursday, decried that the overall result was hastily announced even before the result of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) was presented, vowing to challenge the results, which declared Labour Party’s Ireti Kingibe in Court.
Questioning how residents of the FCT could vote for his opponent, who is about 70 years of age, as against him, who is young and just 53 years, Senator Aduda ascribed her success to the popularity of Labour Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi, claiming that Ireti Kingibe could not defeat him in a one-on-one match.
He further challenged the Senator-Elect to provide a list of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects that she had undertaken to relieve the sufferings of the people in Abuja before her win on February 25.

“The election, as guided by the extant laws used by the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC), was supposed to have been declared inconclusive.
Pointedly, in substantial numbers of the polling units, there was over-voting, which led to the cancellation of results that were supposed to have been revisited by INEC through rescheduled election but from nowhere, we had that results were declared. We are going to challenge it,” the lawmaker said.
“Within my twelve years in the Senate and eight years in the House of Representatives, a lot of development-driven projects have been facilitated by me across the 62 wards and Six Area Councils, many of which are still ongoing. I believe the person declared as the election winner has no capacity because if she has the capacity, common Google will show her what I have done.
It will show you that I led a protest to this place. On the floor of the Senate, I had to discuss about this issue of Naira redesign and other motions on issues of urgent national importance,” he added.

“We have a road we are constructing in Kubwa, Over N1 billion, another one in Nyanya, over N1 billion, we have the ones we are doing in Bwari; if I don’t have the capacity and can not represent the people, I don’t think I can attract those projects to the various communities or Area Councils. I am not talking of Gwagwalada or Kwali or Kuje, I am only talking about the urban centre, the environment here.
These are aside very important bills sponsored by me, passed by the National Assembly and assented to by President Muhammadu Buhari, like the one on the Federal College of Education Zuba that has been there for over 17 years without graduation until we passed that bill.”
