Eid-el-Fitr: House leadership calls for unity, prayers for Nigeria

Speaker Abbas has enjoined Nigerians, especially Muslims, to offer prayers for Nigeria and her leaders in celebration of Eid-el-Fitr

In commemoration of the Eid-el-Fitr, the end of the holy month of Ramadan, the Nigeria House of Representatives celebrates with Muslim Faithful across the nation and beyond.

Recognized as one of the most significant festivals on the Islamic Lunar Calendar; Eid-el-Fitr signifies a celebration of gratitude to Almighty Allah (SWT), spiritual devotion, charity and a new beginning for each devotee. A time of reflection also, on its symbolism and the enduring lessons of Ramadan.

Rep. Akin Rotimi Jr., House Spokesman and Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs made this known in a statement signed on Tuesday saying:

“As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, this year, let us use this opportunity to strengthen the spirit of generosity, and togetherness and promote positivity at all times, despite our national challenges. The Green Chamber extends its heartfelt wishes to constituents and all Nigerians on Eid-el-Fitr. May the jubilation of Eid enrich our nation with enduring peace and prosperity.

In a goodwill message addressed to Muslim faithful, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Tajudeen Abbas, emphasised the importance of continued prayers for Nigeria beyond Ramadan, underscoring that a peaceful and prosperous nation requires continuous supplications to sustain its blessings.

“We thank Allah (SWT) for making it possible for us to witness the Holy Month of Ramadan peacefully. We pray that He accepts all our acts of Ibadah.

“As we celebrate the Eid-el-Fitr, I enjoin Nigerians, especially Muslims, to offer prayers for the country and our leaders. Let’s also remain united as a people,” the Speaker remarked.

Similarly, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Benjamin Kalu, called on Nigerians to maintain faith and unity. 

In his message, Kalu stated, “I congratulate our Muslim Ummah for the successful completion of the fast in the holy month of Ramadan and Eid-el-Fitr celebration. 

“I call on Nigerians to use the occasion to promote national integration, and continue keeping faith with the leadership of the country, as the country would soon witness the type of greatness desired by citizens.”
