Rep Rotimi congratulates Nigerian lawmakers inaugurated into Pan-African parliament

The inauguration of Nigerian lawmakers marks a significant milestone in the representation of the continental legislative body and Africa as a whole.

Rep. Akin Rotimi (APC, Ekiti) has lauded the Speaker, Rep. Tajudeen Abass for the selection of worthy ambassadors of the House of Representatives as members of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP).

He also commended Rep. Philip Agbese (APC, Benue) and other Nigerian lawmakers, including Senator Saliu Mustapha (APC, Kwara Central); Prof. Lilian Obiageli Orogbu, and Rep. Mukhtar Zakari Chawai (NNPP, Kano) for their dedication to serving Nigeria and Africa and expressed confidence in their ability and capacity to contribute meaningfully to the objectives PAP.

The inauguration ceremony was officiated by Hon. Lucia Dos Passos, PAP’s Acting President, and marks a significant milestone in the representation of Nigeria and Africa as a whole in the continental legislative body.

“I congratulate our distinguished colleagues on their inauguration as members of the Pan-African Parliament their appointment is not only a recognition of their capabilities but also a testament to Nigeria’s commitment to the economic development and integration of the African continent,” Rep Rotimi stated.

Rep. Agbese, who is currently serving as the Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives, is also being nominated by the West African caucus and confirmed as the Health Rapporteur of the Pan-African Parliament Committee on Health.

Rep. Rotimi expressed confidence that Rep. Agbese and the entire delegation will bring the needed passion, dedication, and integrity to the crucial tasks ahead.

The Extraordinary Session of the Pan-African Parliament, which commenced on March 18th, 2024, will conclude on Wednesday, 27th March 2024.
