The President had on 19th June, 2023, appointed the Service Chiefs while both Chambers of the National Assembly was on recess.
The House of Representatives on Thursday received a correspondence from President Bola Tinubu requesting confirmation of the newly appointed Service Chiefs.
Tinubu’s request, which was contained in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House, Rep. Tajudeen Abbas read at plenary.
The Service Chiefs are Maj. Gen. C.G Musa, Chief of Defence Staff; Maj. T. A Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral E. A Ogalla Chief of Naval Staff and AVM H.B Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff.

According to the letter, the request is in compliance with the provisions of Section 18(1) of the Armed Forces Act. Cap A20 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
The President urged the lawmakers to expedite action on the request, considering the level of insecurity bedevilling the nation.
