The  National Asembly has adjourned its plenary sitting until January 14, 2025. In his closing remarks, Akpabio extended holiday wishes to his colleagues, the Speaker and leadership of the House of Representatives, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Nigerian public. He expressed hope for a prosperous New Year, saying, “Almighty God will definitely bless your new year, no tragedy will touch your new year.”

Akpabio also reminded committee heads to prepare their reports for presentation when the senate reconvenes, particularly those handling conference committees tasked with reconciling the positions of both chambers. He noted that lawmakers could be called back from the recess if urgent national matters arise.

He said, “Those who are in charge of other committees that must report to us as soon as we come back, please get your reports ready. Those who are in charge of conference committees should  ensure that we marry the positions of both chambers together, get your reports ready once we come back.

“We can meet if there is need to call you back in line with legislative practice while you are on holiday, in the national interest.”

The Senate President concluded by wishing everyone a joyous Christmas and a New Year filled with peace and blessings.

On that note, this senate is adjourned to the 14th day of January 2025. Happy New Year!” he added.
