After serving 75 days out of the prescribed 90 days, the Senate recalled Ningi, who was suspended on March 12, 2023, for accusing its leadership of fraudulently smuggling projects into the 2024 budget.
Senator Abdul Ningi (PDP, Bauchi Central) finally returned to the National Assembly after his suspension, which lasted 75 days instead of 90 days.
Senator Ningi seemed excited to be back in the Senate and was among the first legislators to arrive at the National Assembly for plenary on Tuesday at exactly 10:40 a.m.
While going into the chamber for Tuesday’s plenary, he was spotted wearing a white Babariga and a black Fula (cap).

Addressing the Senate through Order 42 of the Senate standing rules during Tuesday’s plenary, Ningi thanked his colleagues for recalling him from the suspension after spending 75 out of the initial 90 days.
According to him, he was in Turkey when he heard of the Senate’s resolution to recall him from the suspension.
He said, “I rise with profound humility to commend the Senate, its President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Senate leadership and the minority caucus for recalling me from suspension.
“I was in Turkey when the news got to me last week, and I appreciate the gesture.
“I am happy to be back at home because the National Assembly is like home to me, having served as House leader, Deputy Senate Leader in the past and now as one of the Distinguished serving senators.
“I also thank my State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, the people of Bauchi State and other Nigerians who reached out to me in one way or the other during the period that has now been put behind.”
“It is time to move on.”
In his response, the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, on behalf of the Senate, welcomed Ningi, saying, “Distinguished Senator Abdul Ningi, you are a very resourceful person needed in the 10th Senate, electorates from Bauchi Central Senatorial District voted you for. “You are welcome, and let bygones be bygones,” he added.
As predicted in the OrderPaper LIFE Service, the Senate recalled Ningi, who was suspended on 12 March 2023, on Tuesday, 28th May 2024, for accusing its leadership of fraudulently smuggling projects into the 2024 budget.
This announcement followed the resolution of a motion sponsored by the Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro (PDP, Benue North East), during the plenary to recall the senator.
The motion was also co-sponsored by the Deputy Minority Leader, Olalere Oyewunmi, and the Minority Whip, Osita Ngwu.
