Just In: Senate postpones resumption by one week

The Senate has announced the postponement of its plenary resumption for the National Assembly premises to be in optimal condition for the return of lawmakers.

Originally slated for Tuesday, April 16, the new date for its resumption has been adjusted to Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

This development was conveyed to the lawmakers by the Clerk to the Senate, Chinedu Akubueze, in an internal correspondence on Saturday.

He noted that the adjustment was a necessity to accommodate the completion of renovations on the main chambers of both the Senate and the House of Representatives to ensure their readiness for plenary sessions.

The message sent to senators read, “Distinguished Senators are hereby invited to note that the resumption of the plenary sitting of the Senate, which was scheduled for Tuesday, April 16, 2024, has been postponed to Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

“This postponement is owing to unforeseen circumstances, and any inconvenience this may cause is highly regretted.”
