Saraki commended the 10th Senate for their efforts, emphasizing the significance of legislative oversight and the responsibility to advocate truth and represent the people.

Former President of the 8th Senate, Bukola Saraki, took to Twitter to express his views on the ongoing probe in the 10th Senate, reflecting on the principles of transparency and accountability established during his tenure.

Recalling the 8th Senate’s commitment to transparency, Saraki reminisced about their scrutiny of foreign loan requests under the Muhammadu Buhari administration. Despite facing criticism as adversaries of the state hindering national progress.

Transitioning to the present, Saraki commended the 10th Senate for their efforts, emphasizing the significance of legislative oversight and the responsibility to advocate truth and represent the people.

He said “Did you listen to the Senate deliberations today? What we witnessed in the Red Chamber underscores the vital role of legislative oversight and the importance of speaking the truth, standing with the people, and fulfilling our constitutional roles.

“I must acknowledge the 10th Senate’s effort in even deliberating on these crucial issues,” Saraki added

However, he lamented the 9th Senate’s failure in legislative and oversight duties, stating that “Today’s inquiries were those that the 9th Senate should have pursued but evidently did not, resulting in the current repercussions for their inaction.”

Saraki stressed the pivotal role of the legislative arm, urging them to consistently fulfil their constitutional duties for the people’s benefit. He hoped that learning from past mistakes would pave the way for a more effective and accountable government.
