President Bola Tinubu has presented the 2024 budget estimates of N27.5trn before a joint session of the National Assembly
This is the President’s first budget presentation since he assumed office on May 29, 2023.
He arrived at the National Assembly Complex at 11:10 am alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima; the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganjude amongst others.
Recall that President Tinubu had on Tuesday, written to the Senate to request its permission to present the 2024 appropriation Bill to a joint session of the Senate and the House of Representatives, a request that was promptly granted.
Also, recall that the President forwarded to the National Assembly the 2024-2026 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper where the sum of N26.1trn was proposed as the total expenditure profile for the 2024 fiscal year, which was approved last week by both Chambers of the National Assembly.
