All five lawmakers from Borno state who failed to sponsor a single bill are returning members of parliament
The first year of the 10th assembly has witnessed a high rate of lawmakers who failed to sponsor a single bill. This significant gap between promises made during the campaigns and the progress they have made so far in their journey at the national assembly has been one of concern.
As a result, OrderPaper carried out a detailed analysis on the performance of lawmakers throughout the first year of the 10th NASS which shows that out of 149 House of Representatives members who failed to sponsor a single bill since the inauguration of the 10th assembly in June 2023 till May 2024, five are Borno state lawmakers in the House of Representatives.
Interestingly, these lawmakers who failed to sponsor a single bill are all returning members. They are, Reps Gimba Zainab, Muktar Betara, Mohammed Bukar, Zannah Usman, Rahis Abdulkadir.

Those who sponsored bills are Bukar Talba with 3 bills, Midala Balami, Ahmed Satomi, Gana Bukar with 2 bills each and Jaha Usman with 1 bill amounting to a total of 10 bills.
In the Senate, Senator Tahir Monguno, a ranking member in the National Assembly having served 4 terms in the House and currently serving his 1st term in the Senate, sponsored a total of 23 bills making him the highest bill sponsor not only from the state but also in the senate.
However, a 7th term lawmaker Ali Ndume who has served 2 terms in the House and currently serving his 4th term in the senate, sponsored 5 bills and 1st term senator, Kaka Lawan sponsored 9 bills.
