Sen. Shekarau represents Kano Central in the senate under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was first elected to the National Assembly in 2019 and currently serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service. He was Governor of Kano State (2003 - 2011) and later Minister of Education from 2014 to 2015. Shekarau was said to be born on 11th May, 1955.
