He was born on 9th December 1970. The Lawmaker hails from Ibil in Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State. The lawmaker is serving his first term as a Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District under the Platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He contested and won the Cross River North Senatorial bye-election in 2020 but was given to another candidate in 2021. The Supreme Court had judgment in his favour and upheld him as the senator-elect for Cross River North.
He was a member of the House of Representatives in the 8th and 9th National Assembly representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency.
