Senator Akintunde began his political career in 1999 and was later appointed commissioner, to Oyo State Civil Service Commission between 1999 and 2003; He was the commissioner for works and Transportation in Oyo between 2011 and November 2012 and served as Executive Assistant to the Governor of Oyo State.
