Senator Dickson is currently serving his second-term as a Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District in the 10th senate under the Platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His political career dates back to when he was the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of Bayelsa State. This was between 2006 to 2007 under Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR, when he was Governor of the State.
He was first elected as a Member of the House of Representatives (2007-2011) representing Sagbama-Ekeremor Federal Constituency. He served as Chairman House Commmittee on Justice and was re-elected in 2011.
