Theory of Change
If citizens base their electoral choices for legislative offices on quality representation based on established performance indicators; if citizens are adequately informed of the functions and roles of legislators; then advocacy for needed governance reforms and effective delivery of democratic dividends will be substantially enhanced.
About VOTER
The VOTER (Validating the Office of the Electorate on Representation) Project is designed as a massive citizen engagement activity anchored on specially curated voter education; stewardship accountability as measurement for incumbents seeking reelection; collating and interrogating campaign promises; and mounting an organized citizen monitoring and observatory of the 2023 National Assembly elections.
The overarching goal of the VOTER Project is to break the current bandwagon trend in Nigeria's elections in which focus is mainly on executive positions such as presidency and governorship. Citizens will be empowered to engage legislative candidates based on previous performance in office and a demonstrated grasp of the mandate being sought; and not by their mere association with the candidates seeking executive positions.
