Tinubu urged the lawmakers to expedite the screening and confirmation process.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has requested the Senate to screen and confirm four persons appointed as members of the Board of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The President’s request was contained in a letter read by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio during Wednesday’s plenary.

The appointed members of the SEC forwarded to the Senate for screening and confirmation are; Emomotimi Agama who was appointed as Director-General and Frana Chukwuogor who will serve as Executive Commissioner (Legal and Enforcement) of the Security and Exchange Commission.
Others are Bola Ajomale who was appointed as Executive Commissioner (Operations) and Samiya Hassan-Usman, appointed as Executive Commissioner (Corporate Services).
OrderPaper recalls that in April, President Tinubu approved the appointment of seven persons as members of the SEC pending their confirmations by the Senate, however, only four names were transmitted to the Senate for confirmation.
In the letter, the President explained that the appointment complied with the provisions of sections 3 and 5 (1) of the Investment and Security Act of 2007.
It read, “Confirmation of appointment of the Director-General and Commissioners of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
“In accordance with the provision of sections 3 and 5 (1) of the Investment and Security Act of 2007.
“I am pleased to present for confirmation by the Senate, the under-listed four nominees as Director-General and Commissioners of Securities and Exchange Commission.”
The request was thereafter referred to the Senate Committee on Capital Markets which will screen the nominees. The committee is expected to report back in two weeks.
