According to the 2023 budget performance report the revenue of N448.1 billion against a projected budget of N559.080 billion, with total recurrent expenditure at N67.072 billion and capital expenditure at N3.6 billion.
The Senate has approved the sum of N549.6 billion for the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) budget for 2024.
This was announced by a joint Senate and House of Representatives Committee on Communications chaired by Senator Ikra Bilbis (PDP, Zamfara Central).
Following a motion by Senator Tahir Monguno (APC, Borno North), the members of the committee unanimously approved the NCC’s N549.6 billion 2024 budget proposal through a voice vote.
Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, had earlier presented the NCC’s 2023 budget, and the committee examined its performance.

Maida responded to questions from lawmakers on a range of subjects, including data protection, security, and inconsistencies in the NCC’s 2023 budget report.
The NCC is taking steps to make it easier for operators to comply with regulatory requirements, as Maida told lawmakers, to move away from relying exclusively on operator sanctions for revenue generation.
He underlined that NCC works with national security organisations to develop a platform for locating criminals and resolving security issues.
In his remarks, Senator Sunday Karimi (APC, Kogi West) spoke highly of the NCC’s report, noting that the data it contained was accurate.
Furthermore praising Maida for his stellar qualifications, Senator Ned Nwoko (PDP, Delta North) urged him to improve the Agency’s operations.
The agency was also commended by lawmakers for its careful handling of the capital, recurrent, and revenue budgets for 2023.
