PDP Reps lawmakers reconciliation meeting stalemate as they failed to find a common ground.
Reconciliation efforts by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives failed as lawmakers supporting the Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, failed to pass a vote of confidence on the Acting National Chairman of the party, Umar Damagum, insisting on his resignation from the party.
The meeting was called at the instance of the Leader of the Minority Caucus in the House, Rep. Kingsley Chinda (PDP, Rivers) and held on Tuesday at the National Assembly Complex.
The agenda of the meeting of the PDP Rep members was to unanimously pass a vote of confidence on the party’s acting chairman which was said to have been put together by the lawmakers loyal to the Minister of FCT, Nyesome Wike.
Speaking to journalists, Chinda insisted that the PDP lawmakers in the House were united.
According to him: “We remain united and out to perform our duty on behalf of Nigerians. We also call on the party Caucuses, board of trustees, and National Working Committee of the party to embark on reconciliation measures with a view to resolving all litigations that are pending and hinder the party in any way or whatsoever from having a substantive chairman.
“We also call on our leaders, leaders of the PDP to continue to demonstrate unconditional loyalty to the party and ensure that the party is moved to her pride of place.”
On the other hand, the Rep . Ikenga Ugochinyere group which is loyal to Gov Fubara maintained their ground on the resignation of the party’s chairman and for someone from the north-central zone to take over.
“We call for the immediate resignation of Umar İliya Damagum as Acting National Chairman of PDP for anti-party activities and allow North-central produce the acting chairman as clearly stated in the PDP constitution or watch us reconsider our membership of the party in the months ahead if the right thing is not done”

Your news is inappropriate and upside-down. The lawmakers loyal to the governor of Rivers State never at anytime fail to pass a vote of confidence on the acting chairman of the party because there wasn’t any attempt for them to do so. The lawmakers are requesting the resignation of the acting chairman, and so it is wrong of you to say they have failed in passing a vote of confidence on someone that they’re requesting his resignation. It is the lawmakers loyal to the FCT minister that was reportedly failed in that bid.
