The Accountant-General said the late submission of the consolidated statement of the financial report was due to the delay in the appointment of the Auditor-General of the Federation.
The House Representatives has summoned the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), Folasade Yemi-Esan, to appear before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) over the delay in the appointment of the Auditor-General of the Federation.
It also queried the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF) over several financial infractions in the management of public finance in the country.
The Chairman, Public Accounts Committee, Rep. Bamidale Salami (PDP, Osun) issued the summon on Thursday during an interactive session with the Accountants general of the Federation.

Salami, who said the delay in the appointment of the Auditor-General of the Federation has affected audit reports, directed the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), Folasade Yemi-Esan to appear on Tuesday next week.
Responding to queries on financial infractions in the management of public finance in the country, the Accountant-General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein, said the delay in the appointment of the Auditor-General of the Federation may have contributed to the late submission of the Consolidated Statement of the Financial Position because the director in the Auditor-General’s office has no power to sign major documents.
Madein also attributed the infractions to weakness in the internal control system in the consolidation process, adding that it was the standard for the Minister of Finance and the Accountant-General should co-sign the Financial statement.
”The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria had assigned to the Minister of Finance the responsibility for all financial business of the government of the Federation,” she stated.
The meeting was adjourned to Tuesday, when the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), Folasade Yemi-Esan was expected to appear.
