HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES SCORECARD
Among the fourteen members of the National Assembly elected from Jigawa State, the lawmaker representing Birniwa/Guri/ Kiri Kasama Federal Constituency leads in terms of bill sponsorship.
Rep. Fulata sponsored fifteen bills in the period under review, with one of the bills being the Environmental Health Officers Act (Amendment) Bill, 2019, which has been passed by the House.First elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Green Chamber in 2015, the lawmaker ran for the governorship of Jigawa State in 2007 but was unsuccessful.
The member representing Birnin Kudu/Buji Federal Constituency has six (6) bills to his name. Prominent amongst these bills is the Federal College of Education (Special) Birnin Kudu (Establishment) Bill, 2019.
Rep. Magaji is Chairman of the House Committee on Power
Nazifi and Dutse
Rep. NazifiSani representing Gumel/Sule/Maigatari Gagarawa/Tankarkar Federal Constituency, and Rep. Ibrahim Abdullahi Dutse, representing Dutse/Kiyawa, have so far sponsored two bills each.
Galambi and Yalleman
Rep. Yusuf Shittu Galambi representing Gwaram Federal Constituency, and Rep. Makki Abubakar Yalleman, representing Mallam Madori/Kaugama Federal Constituency, each sponsored a single piece of legislation in the last three years.
Meanwhile, five out of the fourteen lawmakers from the state have zero bills to show for three years. They are
- Rep. Ibrahim Usman Auyo representing Hadejia/Kafin Hausa/Auyo Federal Constituency
- Rep. Musa Muhammadu representing Babura/Garki Fagengawo Federal Constituency
- Rep. Muhammad Gudaji Kazaure representing Kazaure/Roni/Gwiwa/Yankwashi Federal Constituency and
- Rep. Saidu Yusuf Miga representing Jahun/Miga Federal Constituency, and
- Rep. Ado Sani Kiri representing Ringim/Taura Federal Constituency.
SENATE SCORECARD
Sabo Muhammed Nakudu
Elected to parliament in 2015 to represent Jigawa South West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Muhammed has three bills to his credit in the period under review.
He had previously served two terms in the House of Representatives between 2007 and 2015 before moving to the Senate in 2015. At the Senate, he has served as Chairman of the Senate Ad-hoc Committee on the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB).
He is currently Chairman of the Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), and is credited as sponsor of the Income Tax Development Act (Amendment) Bill, 2019.
Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia
The Senator representing Jigawa North East in the National Assembly has had two bills to his name in the last three years. He was first elected in 2019 and is currently the Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Accounts. He is also a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State
Danladi Abdullahi Sankara
A representative of Jigawa North West Senatorial District at the Red Chamber, Sankara ranks lowest in terms of bill sponsorship among the Jigawa Senators.
So far, he has sponsored just one bill which is the Public Procurement Act (Amendment) Bill 2019. The piece of legislation has been passed by the Senate.
