Speaker appoints Rep Abdulmumini Jibrin to head housing & habitat committee
The speaker of the House of Representatives on Tuesday named Kano lawmaker, Rep. Abdulmumin Jibrin chairman Committee on Housing and Habitat.
According to the Speaker, Rep. Tanjudeen Abbas, Rep. Abdulmumin is expected to bring his wealth of experience as a former chairman of the committees on finance, Appropriation, transport and foreign affairs as well as in the executive arm, having served as Executive Director of the Federal Housing Authority.
The Housing & Habitat Committee would oversee the Federal Ministry of Housing and Departments and Agencies of the federal government which deals with housing including all federal housing programmes and Agencies such as Federal Mortgage Bank, Federal Mortgage Finance, implementation of mortgage policies of government, Family Homes Fund (FHF), issues on housing and annual budget estimates of the ministry and agencies.
The Committee’s responsibility would also be harmonisation, coordination and streamlining of all housing policies of all levels of government to fit into the national housing scheme.
