The Founder/Executive Director of OrderPaper Nigeria; Oke Epia, will, this weekend, join a list of eminent speakers at the second edition of the Naija Policy Hackathon.
Organised by Policy Shapers, a civic startup which empowers young people with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to engage with public policy, the virtual gathering is expected to attract over 400 young people from across Nigeria and the Diaspora.
According to the organisers, the Hackathon holding between 6 pm and 7 pm from Friday, August 11 to Sunday, August 13, 2023, aims to contribute to the policy agenda for new administrations at the national and sub-national levels and engage young people in solution-oriented conversations.
They noted that the event would give a voice to focal issues that the new administration should prioritise as they seek to engage young people in Nigeria and increase youth engagement in policy discussions, reviews, and formulation in core areas.

Epia, a public policy advisor, civic tech leader and communications expert, has over 23 years of work experience straddling the private, public, and non-profit sectors. He has also led the design and implementation of development and policy reform projects funded by international development partners, including the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Kingdom Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO).
The social entrepreneur was recently appointed to the National Steering Committee of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) in Nigeria and was also awarded the Most Influential Think Tank Institute CEO 2023 – Nigeria by a renowned UK-based media group, CEO Monthly.
In a statement by OrderPaper, Epia expressed his pleasure to speak on Setting the Agenda for Nigeria’s Legislative Arm of Government, describing the event as an avenue to speak to Nigeria’s youth, charge them on engaging the parliament and share knowledge on the institution of parliament with them.

Other speakers outlined for the three-day event include Ndidi Okonkwo Nwuneli (MFR), founder of LEAP Africa and Changing Narratives Africa, who will be delivering the keynote address on Saturday, August 12.
Another speaker expected at the weekend-long event is Dr Peter Ojo, Founder of Letter to Aso Rock, while an esteemed panel of judges for the Hackathon led by Oluseun Onigbide, Global Director of BudgIT, has Bella Anne Ndubuisi, Dr Azeezat Yishawu, Hasana Bello Aliyu, and Amara Nwankpa.
This year’s event hope that this policy ideation event will provide an opportunity for youngsters to reflect and contribute answers to the country’s present difficulties that the country is facing. And with a variety of hackathon tracks which come with competition prize tags for the winners of the competition, the event promises to be educational, impactful and fun.
