As national assembly plenary resumes today, this edition of RemTracker highlights discussions from last week on CNG and planned probe of NNPCL over non-remittance of funds
Day of reckoning beckons for MDAs
The House of Representatives is set to investigate revenue-generating agencies for revenue leakages and non-remittance of funds. This decision followed the consideration of the report from the House joint committee on finance, national planning, and economic development regarding the 2025-2027 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF-FSP).
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) is at the forefront of this probe, as the House expressed concern over its non-remittance of funds, which NNPCL attributes to the ₦10 trillion owed by the federation for fuel subsidy payments.
Moving forward, the House has resolved to convene quarterly investigative hearings with revenue-generating agencies to track their compliance with the Fiscal Responsibility Act (FRA), 2007.
