Nigerian leaders laud former Senate president David Mark on his 76th birthday

Eminent Nigerians from various spheres of the country have extended warm felicitations to Senator David Mark, the former President of the Senate, on the occasion of his 76th birthday.

Among those who showered accolades on Mark are former military President Ibrahim Babangida, ex-vice president Atiku Abubakar, and a host of other prominent figures.

In heartfelt messages, these leaders hailed Mark for his unwavering dedication and remarkable contributions to the nation’s development.

Babangida lauded Mark as a diligent and hardworking officer, citing his distinguished service in both military and democratic administrations saying: “Mark epitomises an inimitable example of a thorough-bred army general who has made a name for himself in both the military and democratic administration”.

He also emphasized Mark’s exemplary courage and leadership qualities, wishing him good health and wisdom for the years ahead.

On his part, Abubakar commended Mark for his leadership during his tenure as President of the Senate, highlighting his role in bringing stability to the country’s polity while Senator Tunde Ogbeha, Mark’s colleague and friend described him as a reliable, dependable brother and a versatile leader capable of excelling in various endeavours.

Senate Minority leader, Abba Moro in his birthday message praised Mark as a mentor and urged him to continue imparting his knowledge to younger generations.

The Immediate past governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa prayed that God in his infinite mercy continue to grant Mark Good health, wisdom and courage hoping that Mark will continue to make his wealth of experience in leadership available for the younger generation to emulate

Former Senate President and chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Board of Trustees (BOT), Senator Adolf Wabara described Mark as a unique leader who has the gift of managing human and material resources successfully.

Wabara recalled Mark’s leadership of the Senate and National Assembly when he invoked the ‘doctrine of necessity’ to solve the intractable constitutional crisis that almost bedevilled the nation in 2010.

Former Sokoto state governor, Senator Aminu Tambuwal noted that Mark remains a foremost leader who has made a positive impact in the leadership of Nigeria, especially in the legislature.

In his message, former Senate leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-egba (SAN) noted that Mark is a leader of inestimable value and tasked him to establish a leadership foundation where he would mentor and lecture young Nigerians on the rudiments of administration and leadership.

Mark, born on April 8, 1948, served as the military Governor of Niger state, held the position of Communications minister, represented Benue South senatorial district as a Senator, and served as the Senate President of Nigeria from 2007 to 2015.
