Following President Muhammadu Buhari’s request for the Senate’s confirmation of his nominees as Members of the NDIC Governing Board, the lawmakers approved the appointment of Dr Abdul Hakeem Mobolaji as Chairman on Tuesday.
The Senate has confirmed the nominations of Hon. Dr Abdul Hakeem Mobolaji and six others for appointment as Chairman and members of the Governing Board of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), respectively.
The confirmation follows the presentation of a report by the Chairman, Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, Senator Uba Sani (APC, Kaduna Central), during plenary on Tuesday.

Dr Abdul Hakeem Mobolaji‘s nomination was confirmed for appointment as Chairman of NDIC, representing the South West geopolitical zone.
Others confirmed as members of the NDIC board are: Prof. Osita Ogbu (South East), Umar Gambo Jibrin (North Central), Mohammed Attahiru Haruna (North East), Yasmine Zaabatt Amin Dalhatu (North West), Simon Ogie (South-South) and Abimbola Olashore (South West).
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had related the nominations through a letter to the Senate, requesting confirmation of the nominees, stating that the appointment was in line with the constitutional provision and extant law.
