NASC appoints Andrew Nwoba as new senate clerk

The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) has announced the appointment of Andrew Nwoba as the new Clerk of the Senate. This was revealed in a press statement issued on Monday, December 9, 2024, by Emmanuel N. Anyigor, the Commission’s Deputy Director of Information. The appointment is set to take effect from December 11, 2024.

Nwoba succeeds Chinedu Francis Akubueze in the role. Prior to his elevation, Nwoba served as the Secretary of the Directorate of Legislative Budget and Planning. His appointment is part of a broader reorganization within the National Assembly’s administrative framework, which includes the promotion and redeployment of other key officials.

Among these changes, the NASC appointed Emmanuel Oda as Deputy Clerk (Administration) of the Senate and Vivien N. Njemanze as Deputy Clerk (Administration) of the House of Representatives. Additionally, Dr. Obasi D. Ukoha now assumes the role of Secretary of the Directorate of Legislative Budget and Planning.

The Commission also approved several strategic redeployments. Rawlings Agada, formerly the Deputy Clerk (Administration) of the Senate, has been reassigned as Deputy Clerk (Legislative) of the Senate. Similarly, Florence Kehinde A., who previously served as Deputy Clerk (Administration) of the House of Representatives, has been redeployed as Deputy Clerk (Legislative) of the House of Representatives.

Earlier, the NASC confirmed other significant appointments. Ogundayo Mofoluwake Olufunmilayo was named Secretary of the Directorate of Special Duties, Alkali Umar Abubakar was appointed Secretary of the Directorate of Human Resource & Staff Development, and Essien Eyo Essien was assigned the role of Secretary of the Directorate of Zonal Liaison Offices.
