Plateau State, in north-central Nigeria, has a total of eleven members in the national assembly, comprising three senators and eight representatives in the house
Plateau State, located in the middle belt region of Nigeria, is the twelfth largest state by size, with an estimated population of about 4.5 million. Approximately 25% of the population resides in urban areas, while the remaining 75% live in rural areas.
Created in 1976 from the northern part of the former Benue-Plateau State, Plateau is known as “the home of peace and tourism.” Its capital is Jos, and the state comprises seventeen Local Government Areas (LGAs). The current Governor of Plateau State is Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.

Senator Dachungyang Pam Mwadkon

Senator Simon Bako Lalong
Sen. Lalong is serving his first-term as a senator representing Plateau south senatorial district in the 10th assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Sen. Lalong discarded legal practice to pursue a political career in 1998, when he contested his native Shendam state constituency and entered the Plateau State House of Assembly. In 2000, he became the speaker of the assembly, occupying that position until 2006, following a political upheaval within the House. During that period he was two times (2001-2002) elected as chairman of the Conference of Speakers of the 36 States of Nigeria. He was declared winner of the senate seat following an election tribunal ruling against Sen. Napoleon Bali in December, 2023. Sen.
