Jigawa State, located in northern Nigeria, was created on August 27, 1991, during General Ibrahim Babangida’s military administration, which created nine new states, raising the total tally to thirty. Originally part of Kano State, Jigawa shares a border with the Republic of Niger. The state capital is Dutse, and comprises 27 local government areas.
