Taraba State, in the north-east of Nigeria, has a total of nine members in the National Assembly, comprising of three senators and six representatives in the House
Taraba State was created on 27 August 1991 out of the defunct Gongola State. The state derives its name from River Taraba and lies in the north-east geopolitical region of Nigeria. A striking historical fact about the state is that it encompasses part of the mambilla region, which is famed as the Bantu cradle, having been occupied for some five millennia to date. Taraba is nicknamed ‘nature’s gift to the nation’ as the state is rich in culture and minerals while comprising many ethnic groups.The current governor of Taraba state is Mr. Agbu Kefas.
