LIFE Service: 2024 Appropriation bill takes precedence in NASS this week

Orderpaper’s Legislative Intelligence Forecast (LIFE) Service by Kauthar Anumba Khaleel provides a glimpse into the plan for the legislative business of the National Assembly this week.

Barring last-minute changes, President Bola Tinubu will on Wednesday, present the 2024 Appropriation Bill to the National Assembly for consideration and passage.

Further legislative actions would be taken on the following bills: A Bill proposing the establishment of the Nigerian Marine Corps to Promote Maritime Security; A Bill seeking to Provide for Statutory Regulation of Peacekeeping Operations by Members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigerian Police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other Security Organizations as well as A Bill for an Act to Amend the Births, Deaths (Compulsory Registration) Act.

Additionally, the report on the Bill for an Act to Establish the Nigerian Peace Corps to facilitate Peace, Volunteerism, Community Services, Neighbourhood Watch, and Nation-Building would be considered by the House. So also, the reports of a Bill for an Act to make Provisions for the Retirement Age for Staff of the National Assembly Service; A Bill for an Act to Establish the Federal University of Sports, Afuze, Edo State, and A Bill for an Act to Establish the Chartered Institute of Loan and Risk Management of Nigeria.

The Ifon, Okeluse, Ireakari, Ehin-Ogbe, Iloro, Ijebu, and Ipele Communities of Ose and Owo Local Government Areas of Ondo State, which has been ravaged by gully erosion will receive the attention of the Green Chamber just as it will push for the construct coastal road to connect communities in Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency.
