Last week, OrderPaper accurately made predictions on critical issues that made their way into discussions within the National Assembly for plenary week October 8 – October 10, 2024.

With an impressive accuracy rate of 83 perent, OrderPaper‘s Legislative Intelligence Forecast Entry (LIFE) article has again proved to be a valuable resource for both public and private decision-making, as many of the issues we highlighted were indeed addressed in the National Assembly’s discussions and committee meetings.

Let’s take a look:

LIFE This Week: Flood crises, Zenith bank, Niger boat mishap on NASS agenda this week

Adamawa flood  crisis

As anticipated, the senate addressed the ongoing flood disaster in Adamawa state aligning with our prediction of lawmakers demanding prompt assistance from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). Following the Kiri Dam breach, Sen. Amos Yohanna (PDP, Adamawa north) raised the urgent need to address and support devastating effects across local governments. This prompted the senate to call for immediate relief materials and infrastructure rehabilitation efforts for affected communities.

Local government elections in Rivers state and beyond

OrderPaper’s LIFE piece also predicted that the National Assembly would address rising political tensions in Rivers state as a result of the contentious local government elections. However, the National Assembly addressed broader electoral concerns across the country. The senate condemned recent local government elections held nationwide, calling the lack of proper election conduct a violation of democratic principles.

Focus on Tinubu’s tax reforms

OrderPaper also accurately predicted that the National Assembly would commence legislative work on President Bola Tinubu’s four tax reform  bills that were sent to them for approval. We saw the four tax bills appear on the House of Representatives OrderPaper for first reading on Tuesday, October 8th, 2024 and also featured on OrderPaper’s Bills Board for that day. This indicates that the President’s four tax bills have officially begun their journey through the legislative process.

Fighting the “Japa” trend

Additionally, our prediction concerning the rising brain drain,  “japa” was validated. The lawmakers also called for larger budgets for universities to improve conditions and stop the outflow of talent from Nigerian schools.
