Following the Kiri Dam breach, Sen. Amos Yohanna (PDP, Adamawa north) raised the urgent need to address and support devastating effects across local governments. This prompted the senate to call for immediate relief materials and infrastructure rehabilitation efforts for affected communities.
Local government elections in Rivers state and beyond
OrderPaper’s LIFE piece also predicted that the National Assembly would address rising political tensions in Rivers state as a result of the contentious local government elections. However, the National Assembly addressed broader electoral concerns across the country. The senate condemned recent local government elections held nationwide, calling the lack of proper election conduct a violation of democratic principles.

This incident led to many lives lost and prompted lawmakers to push for immediate assistance and better transportation options.
Fighting the “Japa” trend
Additionally, our prediction concerning the rising brain drain, “japa” was validated. The senate asked its committee on education to work with the ministry of education to find ways to keep skilled professionals in the country. The lawmakers also called for larger budgets for universities to improve conditions and stop the outflow of talent from Nigerian schools.
