Let’s take a look.

2025 budget presentation

In line with OrderPaper’s forecasts, President Bola Tinubu finally indicated his intention to present the 2025 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly. This announcement was made by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Thursday’s  plenary session and is expected to take place on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Prior to this, President Tinubu submitted the 2025-2027 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) to the National Assembly, which was approved by both chambers. The documents outlined a spending plan of N47.9 trillion for the 2025 fiscal year.

Currency scarcity

Just as OrderPaper foretold, the House of Representatives responded to the ongoing cash scarcity issue gripping the nation. In line with the predictions, a motion moved by Rep. Uguru Emmanuel (APC, Ebonyi) called for an urgent investigation into the cash shortages affecting commercial banks, which have led to significant hardship for Nigerians and hindered economic activities. Rep. Emmanuel stressed the importance of cash availability for consumer spending and investments and urged the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to take immediate action to address this.
