The lawmaker representing, Ijumu/ Kabba-Bunu federal constituency, Rep. Idris Salman  has defected from the African Democratic Party (ADC) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rep. Tajudeen Abbas (APC Kaduna) announced this development while reading Rep. Salman‘s letter of defection during plenary on Tuesday.

In the letter, the lawmaker cited crisis at the national level of the ADC for his exit from the party.

However, the minority whip, Rep. Ali Isa JC (PDP Gombe), raised a point of order, citing Section 68 of the 1999 Constitution and called for the seat of the lawmaker to be declared vacant. This created a mild rowdiness in the House.
