Uproar as Plateau Rep defects from Labour Party
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has again gained one more member as a Plateau lawmaker, Rep. Ajang Alfred Iliya defected from the Labour Party.
In a letter read by the Speaker on Thursday, Rep. Iliya, cited internal crises within the Labour Party and a desire to align with the APC’s national development agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s administration. He also claimed that joining the APC would enable him to provide better representation to his constituents and play a more effective role in peacebuilding efforts.
However this decision was greeted by uproar by some opposition lawmakers in the House.
