2019

 

BUDGET OF CONTINUITY [2019]

President Muhammadu Buhari presented a proposal of
N8.83 trillion to a joint session of the Eighth National Assembly on December 19, 2018; the last to be considered by that Legislative Assembly.

On May 27 2019, the President assented to the appropriation bill of N8.92 trillion earlier passed by the Senate on 30th April 2019 and the House of Representatives on May 2, 2019.



BUDGET OF SUSTAINING GROWTH AND JOB CREATION [2020]

On October 8, 2020, President Buhari presented an Appropriation Bill of N10.33 trillion for the first time before a joint session of the Ninth National Assembly.

Having been passed by the National Assembly on 5th December 2019, the President signed the 2020 budget of N10.594 trillion into law on 17th December 2019.

 

BUDGET OF ECONOMIC RECOVERY [2021]

The President presented the 2021 Draft Appropriation Bill of N13.08 trillion to the National Assembly on October 8, 2020.

On December 31, 2020, the President assented to the N13.588 trillion budget passed by the federal parliament on December 21, 2020.

BUDGET OF ECONOMIC GROWTH AND SUSTAINABILITY [2022]

President Buhari on 7th October 2022 presented the 2022 Appropriation Bill with an aggregate expenditure of N16.39 trillion to the National Assembly.

On 31st December 2021, the President assented to the 2022 Appropriation Bill of N17.127 trillion passed by the Assembly on 22nd December 2021 and transmitted to him.

 

BUDGET OF FISCAL CONSOLIDATION AND TRANSITION [2023]

On October 7 2022, President Buhari presented a record N20.51 trillion 2023 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly; the last in the life of his administration and the Ninth Assembly. On December 28 2022, the Senate and House of Representatives passed the 2023 Appropriation Bill after raising the proposed spending to N21.82 trillion.

The bill is awaiting transmission to the President and subsequent assent.
