Senator Ibrahim says it is in commemoration of the first anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s incredible performance in office.
Senator Jimoh Ibrahim (APC, Ondo South) has withdrawn his suit filed against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa due to the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Senator Ibrahim disclosed this while speaking to journalists of the National Assembly on Tuesday. According to him, it is in commemoration of the first anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s incredible performance in office.
OrderPaper recalls that the senator approached the Federal High Court Abuja where he challenged the gubernatorial primary election of the APC held recently in Ondo state.
He claimed that the largest electoral fraud in Nigeria was the manipulation of the primary election by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State.
According to him, reports he received on election day showed that polling did not take place in 159 out of 203 wards and 15 out of 18 local government councils in the state. The senator stressed that the electoral fraud was well-documented ward by ward and local government by local government.
Following this filed suit, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Igbotako Ward II, Okitipupa local government area of Ondo State suspended him for suspected anti-party activities and insubordination. A letter signed by 16 executive members revealing the senator’s suspension was provided to the press in the state capital of Akure.
The party recalled that the APC national chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, had met with all state governorship aspirants in Abuja on the need for them to cooperate with the party’s candidate and incumbent Governor of the state, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Ibrahim after briefing the press at the National Assembly released a statement titled: “Presidential intervention and notice of withdrawal suit No. FHC /ABJ/ CS/588/2024.”
The statement read, “The suit is now withdrawn due to the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR. The President called me, had a meeting with me, and assured me that he will as the leader of the party improve on internal democracy within our party, and I will need to withdraw the case to enable him to chart a way forward. The Governor of Ondo state Lucky Aiyedatiwa earlier visited my Asokoro residence for several hours after another unsuccessful visit to my hotel room in Akure.
“I cannot disobey the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria because the issue I am fighting for is not personal. It is simply to improve internal democracy to which the President has promised improvement. My respect for the President is absolute!
“Let me use this opportunity to thank Mr President for the words of wisdom and encouragement during my meeting with him which lasted over one hour and his various interactions with me on the telephone during which he emphasized his commitment to internal democracy over and over again. Thank you, Mr. President.
“The withdrawal of this legendary suit is concise with the first anniversary of Mr President’s incredible performance in office, and this is my gift of the “cake” of the first anniversary! Thank you all for your support.”
