Ninth Senate set for valedictory session on Saturday, 10th June as Lawan defends actions of outgoing National Assembly in ensuring service delivery by the executive arm of government

President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has disclosed that the 9th Assembly has passed over a hundred bills despite being tagged a “rubber stamp” Assembly.
Lawan made this statement on Wednesday during a valedictory meeting with the Senate Press Corps in Abuja.
Noting that the National Assembly made sure that the executive branch of government served the needs of the people, he disclosed that former President Muhammadu Buhari assented to, more than 100 bills over the previous four years.
“The reforms in the economy, oil and gas industry, social environment, and electoral process,” he added, were critical in the passage of some of the bills.

“For us and particularly for me, this 9th National Assembly, no matter what anybody will call it, we have done what we should do to ensure service delivery by the executive arm of government to Nigerians.
At the last count, former President Muhammadu Buhari assented to about 112 bills in the last four years,” he said.
Meanwhile, Senator Lawan also disclosed that the valedictory session for Senators in the 9th Assembly earlier scheduled for 8th June 2023, has been rescheduled for Saturday, 10th June 2023, due to the meeting scheduled to hold with President Bola Tinubu.
“By the grace of God, we will still hold plenary on Thursday and then our valedictory session will be on Saturday,” he stated.
