A budget increase for FERMA, the ill-treatment of the super eagles by Libyan federation are major highlights from House today
- Reps demand 20 percent of work ministry’s 2025 budget for FERMA
The House of Representatives has urged the ministries of budget and economic planning, finance and budget office of the federation, to allocate 20 percent of the ministry of works’ budget for the 2025 budget to the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to enable the agency function effectively. This resolution was sequel to the adoption of the motion by Rep. Aderemi Oseni (APC, Oyo ) on “the need to increase the budgetary allocation of Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) for effective road maintenance and repairs of federal roads across the country” Moving the motion, Oseni noted that the federal government is committed to enhancing economic activities and productivity by ensuring the effective maintenance and repair of federal roads throughout the year. However, the lawmaker said that the annual budget of FERMA is a meagre sum of about 25 to 50 billion naira within the last two years, which is about 10 percent of the required amount.

Just ast predicted by OrderPaper‘s Legislative Intelligent Forecast Entry (LIFE) this week, the House of Representatives condemned the alleged inhumane treatment of the Super Eagles and the delegation by the Libyan Football Federation/Libyan Government.
This was followed to the adoption of a motion by Rep. Kabiru Amodu (PDP Zamfara) at plenary on Tuesday in Abuja. In his ruling, the Speaker, Rep. - Reps to investigate recurrent flooding due to opening of Lagdo dam
The House of Representatives on Tuesday called on the federal government to address the recurrent flooding caused by the opening of the Lagdo Dam in northern Cameroon. This resolution came after the House adopted a motion of urgent public importance titled “need to investigate the recurrent flooding due to the opening of the Lagdo Dam,” sponsored by the Minority Leader, Rep. Kingsley Chinda (PDP Rivers). Chinda highlighted that the Lagdo Dam, constructed in 1982 for irrigation and electricity generation, releases excess water to prevent overflow, which then flows downstream into Nigeria. This discharge has caused significant flooding in states such as Borno, Adamawa, Benue, Taraba, Kogi, and other affected areas. He noted that the construction of a buffer dam, the proposed Dasin Hausa Dam in Adamawa State, which was agreed upon in principle between Nigeria and Cameroon to help contain the excess water from the Lagdo Dam has remained stalled for years due to funding and bureaucratic delays.
