North-west lawmakers in the 10th House of Representatives sponsored 217 bills in their first year in office.
In their inaugural year, representatives from the north-west geopolitical zone have made notable contributions to the legislative process by sponsoring 217 bills, which accounts for 18.5 percent of all bills introduced in the house. Among these bills, 8 were passed/transmitted, 14 bills are awaiting consideration, 7 bills are awaiting report, and 188 bills are awaiting second reading.
Out of the 92 lawmakers from the north-west, 42 actively participated in bills sponsorship, leaving 50 who did not engage in this aspect of their legislative duties. Unfortunately, the zone currently lacks any female representation, which highlights a significant gap in gender representation within the region.
The principal officers from the north west zone are Rep. Tajudeen Abbas, of Zaria federal constituency, Kaduna state who is currently serving as the speaker of the house and has sponsored 21 bills; Rep. Ali Madaki (NNPP) Dala federal constituency, Kano state, serving as the deputy minority who has sponsored 4 bills during the review period.

Jigawa

Only 5 of Kebbi lawmakers sponsored bills within the first year and they had a total of 9 bills between them all awaiting second reading. These bills represent 4.16 percent of the north west bills tally and 0.76 percent of the total house bills tally.
Kaduna
Kaduna had a total of 47 bills sponsored by 6 of its lawmakers. The bill progression is as follows: 1 bill was passed/transmitted, 45 bills are awaiting second reading and 1 bill is awaiting consideration. The bills account for 21.6 percent of the zonal bills tally and 3.99 percent of the total house bills.
Kano
Kano had 70 sponsored bills by 15 lawmakers. Of this number, 5 were passed, 3 are awaiting report, 58 are awaiting second reading and 4 are awaiting consideration. These bills make up 32.3 percent of the north west zone bills tally and 5.97 percent of the total house bills.
Katsina
Katsina has 4 sponsors who proposed 27 bills. Out of these 27 bills, 1 were passed/transmitted, 19 are awaiting second reading, while 7 are awaiting consideration. The bills constitute 12.9 percent of the zonal bills and 2.39 percent of the total house bills.
Sokoto
In Sokoto, 4 lawmakers have sponsored a total of 20 bills. Of these, 1 bill was passed/transmitted, 18 bills are awaiting second reading, and 1 bill is awaiting consideration. This contribution represents 9.2 percent of the total bills sponsored in the north-west bills tally and 1.7 percent of all bills in the House.
Zamfara
4 of Zamfara lawmakers sponsored 37 bills in total. Of this number, 4 are awaiting report while 33 are awaiting second reading. These bills represent 17 percent of the north west bills tally and 3.14 percent of the total house bills.
